ConnectUp – Networking Event
Spyder Lab will host a “ConnectUp” networking lunch at their Brea facility. PIA::VMA members are invited to enjoy lunch, network with their peers and learn how Spyder Lab has prepared students to be employment-ready in the graphic communications industry. Spyder Lab is a work-based program for junior high and high school students that facilitates in-depth industry training and certification through mentorships hosted at each school’s own fully equipped graphic media production studio. Students gain hands-on experience running the studio as a business, building their technical and soft skills while also discovering whether a career in graphic communications is a right fit for them.

Book Arts: Holiday Card Printing
Design and print your own greeting cards, using cuts and wood type from the Museum’s collection to create handmade seasonal cards and messages on a printing press. After learning how to set wood type, lock it into a chase, and ink the press, you’ll be able to create 25 cards for upcoming holidays. Minors (age 12-17) enrolled in this workshop must be accompanied by a paying adult. All materials provided. All experience levels welcome.

Book Arts: Intro to Bookbinding
Explore a variety of creative and playful approaches to book structures. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basics as they develop mechanical knowledge to create simple, soft–cover blank notebooks and unique, sculptural book forms made from single pieces of paper. Holiday Krazy Krafts Day
Get into the crafting spirit at the International Printing Museum’s Krazy Krafts Day! This family event celebrates the art of printing, paper arts, book making and more. It’s a creative day for all kids, and for the “kid” in all of us! Activities include letterpress printing of keepsakes and bookmarks, rubber stamping, papermaking, bookbinding, paper marbling, screen printing, and so much more. Guests can enjoy mini-tours of the Printing Museum and live printing demonstrations.
