SHOW PROFESSIONAL MATURITY TO INFLUENCE YOUR WORKFORCE

Being a good manager means setting an example of maturity for your employees. Show that you’re a grown-up by practicing these important leadership behaviors:

  • Support organizational policies. Don’t gripe about your organization’s rules and procedures in front of your workforce, even if you disagree with them. If necessary, work for change from inside.
  • Help your peers. Pitch in and help whenever you can for the other person’s good, and your organization’s.
  • Champion change. All organizations need to innovate and grow to survive. Be the person leading the charge, not the malcontent resisting it.
  • Control your temper. Remain professional no matter how frustrated you feel. Employees respect and emulate leaders with self-control.

CONTRARY TO POPULAR THINKING GOING PAPERLESS DOES NOT SAVE TRESS

A new research report entitled “Contrary to Popular Thinking, Going Paperless Does Not ‘Save’ Trees,” shows how avoiding the use of paper may actually result in significant loss of forest land in North America. Related to this, Two Sides recently released a short video showing how sustainable forest management practices ensure healthy and abundant forests. You can view the video on the home page at www.ChoosePrint.org, and find the research on the site’s research archives page.

Share this with your employees and clients.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO PAY YOUR SALESFORCE?

Are you offering your salesforce the right packages of rewards? Take the survey and see how you compare with your peers!

PIASC, in conjunction with the other PIA Affiliates and Printing Industries of America, is conducting a national membership survey to develop information on Sales Compensation within the printing industry. If you participate in the survey, which is presently underway, the publication of the results will be available to you at NO cost!

OUTRAGEOUSLY BAD MARKETING ADVICE

Here’s a round-up of some popular marketing advice that just isn’t true:

  • You absolutely must be on Facebook
  • Pinterest only works for consumer brands that sell fashion or food.
  • If you start blogging, your audience will naturally find you.
  • If you get to page one of Google, you’ll be successful.
  • B2B marketers don’t need a mobile-ready site.

RAISE FOUNDATION HELPS ATTRACT YOUNG PEOPLE TO THE PRINTING INDUSTRY

PIASC/RAISE Foundation offers young people in graphic arts with an opportunity to engage with the graphic communications industry by offering a number of competitions they can participate in and win cash awards. This year over 200 students participated in the packaging, bookmark, and comic book competitions. The winners will be honored at a special Awards Banquet on May 12, 2016, at Tamayo Restaurant. Please contact Ara Izquierdo if you have any questions about RAISE Foundation’s program and how you can help.

WHAT 3 PERCEPTIVE PRINT BUYERS SAID ABOUT PRINTERS BY MARGIE DANA

When I listen to print buyers* talk about printers, it’s hard for me not to jump out of my chair, screaming, “My God, why isn’t every printer listening to you?”

From time to time I’m involved in buyer events. Most recently, these events have been offered by Printing Impressions and sponsored by Canon U.S.A. So far, they’ve all involved highly experienced businesspeople that are responsible for sourcing print – no novices, no millennials, no recent college grads.

While three buyers may not agree with one another on every question, there are definite trends that you can identify if you’re paying attention.

The buyer intelligence I pick up from these conversations is important to the print industry. Here are a few insights from just one webinar:

  • Highly experienced print buyers view their printers as partners. They don’t want to switch, or find new suppliers, unless they have to. >>READ MORE
