Dear Member, here is your weekly e-flash!

JOIN US FOR A RELAXING EVENING… COCKTAILS AND CONVERSATIONS!

It's time to get together and enjoy an evening of refreshing drinks, great hors d’oeuvres, and enlightening networking!

You may ask yourself, networking? Who has time for networking? But we all know that networking is important for our business. Following are some benefits as to why networking should be part of your activities.

Generation of referrals/Increased business – This is probably the most obvious benefit and the reason most business people decide to participate in networking activities.

Opportunities – You can find opportunities like joint ventures, client leads, partnerships… the list goes on, and the opportunities within networking are endless.

Connections – “It’s not WHAT you know but WHO you know.” This is true in business. If you want a successful business, then you need to have a great source of relevant connections in your network that you can call on when you need them.

Raising your profile – Being visible and getting noticed is a big benefit of networking. Attending business and social events regularly and offering useful information or tips to people who need it, can help you build your reputation as a knowledgeable and supportive person. This can result in getting more referrals or leads for your business.

Make your reservations now and plan to attend an enjoyable and relaxing event with industry peers. Contact Emily Holguin at 323.728.9500, ext. 262 or click here to register online.

WHAT IS THE MESSAGE IN EMPLOYEES' MESSAGES?

If your employees deal with customers over the phone, the impression they make is important, especially in their outging voicemail messages. From time to time, listen to their messages carefully. Is the information correct? Is their pronounciation easily understood? Is the tone postive and courteous? Do you hear “please” and “thank you” when you should? If you were a customer, would you call this person back?

PIA is in the midst of working on the 2016 Survey of Mailing Software and will have this ready for distribution to members by year end.

KEEP THE TEAM IN MIND WHEN PRAISING PERFORMANCE

Individual recognition is important to motivation, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore team efforts. Make sure you show appreciation for group work with these tactics:

  • Send weekly emails to the entire team highlighting what it’s accomplished and how it supports your organization’s mission and goals.

  • Hold regular team meetings to talk about successes and results. Spotlight individual contributions, but make a point of thanking the entire team.

We need to remember… there is no I in TEAM.
