Dear Member, here is your weekly e-flash!

YOU ARE INVITED TO BREAKFAST WITH BOB AND GERRY!

Start your morning right and get your adrenalin going! Join Bob Lindgren and his guest Gerry Bonetto at this popular and informative meeting.

Gerry Bonetto is PIASC’s Vice President of Government Affairs. For over 30 years, Gerry has represented printing’s interests at federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including Cal/OSHA, US EPA, Regional Water Boards, and SCAQMD. He frequently consults with individual companies on their health and safety programs and can help you write your own safety compliance program.

Be prepared when you receive

  • A Cal/OSHA citation with a list of violations and a big penalty
  • A letter from an attorney notifying you of an action for an injury to a former employee
  • A notice from your Worker’s Compensation insurance carrier notifying you that your experience mod has just gone through the roof.

While we can’t avoid experiencing any of the above actions, letting PIASC do a safety compliance walk through, can prepare you to be ready and in compliance.

Gerry Bonetto can help you see the areas of potential concern. He can also work with you on initiating specific procedures, like “lockout/tagout” that will avoid injuries, reduce costs, and keep you in compliance.

Plan to attend one or more of the following meetings starting at 7:30 am and be prepared!

  • Tuesday, May 2nd – Mimi’s Café, Rancho Cucamonga
  • Wednesday, May 3rd – Green Street Restaurant, Pasadena
  • Thursday, May 4th – Brent's Deli, Northridge
  • Tuesday, May 9th – Mimi’s Café, Tustin
  • Wednesday, May 10th – Ozzie’s Diner, Commerce
  • Thursday, May 11th – West Bistro, Long Beach

WORKPLACE TRENDS

Research predicts automation of certain HR functions. A national study from CareerBuilder says that 72% of the employers surveyed expect that some roles within talent acquisition and human capital management will become completely automated within the next 10 years. The rate at which companies with 250-plus employees are adopting automation varies considerably. Although more are turning to technology to address time-consuming, labor-intensive talent acquisition and management tasks, which are susceptible to human error, the study shows a significant proportion continue to rely on manual processes. Thirty-four percent of employers don’t use technology automation for recruiting candidates, 44% don’t automate onboarding, and 60% don’t automate human capital management activities for employees, according to the research.

The study, which was conducted online from November 16th to December 1st and included 719 HR managers and recruiters at companies with more than 250 employees across industries in the private sector, shows that most of the automation is centered on messaging, benefits, and compensation.
